Maintaining prolonged service lifetime and adequate quality of sensing coverage are the key challenges in constructing Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based applications. As such networks usually operate inhospitable hostile environment, failures ineludible providing resilience is a necessity. However, it challenging to satisfy conflicting problems enhancing energy efficiency fault tolerance simultaneously. Fault-tolerance significant requirement while designing WSN. It crucial detect advance take necessary measures maintain durable efficient functioning network. Generally, existing face structured WSNs, node faults can induce formation holes, disrupt structure consequently curtail application performance. The will affect monitoring effectiveness tracking applications, e.g., moving target tracking. Moreover, cause network be partitioned, further reducing accuracy In this paper, we propose robust fault-tolerance scheme with preservation using WSN topology ( $$F_{CAFT}$$ ). objective proposed sustain performance by timely healing network, enhance durability reliability results simulation comparison methods reveal that efficacious about 14% sustains 96% even when failure rate more than 20%, which necessity for critical applications WSNs.
